Valentines

Do you think Valentines is a day that should be put away only for lovers, rather then celebrating your love for each other each and every day.? The origins of this day date back  to a time of pagan fertility times . Esther Howland created the first Valentines card. She became fancatied with card Esther  at her graduation and decided that lovers could have cards. So she made business out of these cards.
The commercialization of this day promotes the this ideal "Your love is measured by what you buy."  Couples feel that they must command the day with  gifts and a major performance of their love each other basically buying love.  After, Christmas Valentine’s Day is considered the most lucrative day of the year and according to the US Greeting Card Association 1billion are sent out each year.  This day is also sexualized and lovers are to eat aphrodisiac foods and mingle in their union of each other. February is a favorite day for proposing an engagement or marriage proposal . Valentines day should focus on the love you two share rather than the gift that was bought.  Affections are  expected  to received by each others as lovers and for those that are not currently in love can mark the day with longing.
